Pepco ESCO to serve

Maryland stadiums:  Pepco Energy Services was picked by the Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA) to put a $9 million energy efficiency contract in place at Camden Yards, Oriole Park and M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md.  The 13-year contract includes installing energy efficient lighting, upgrading the cooling and heating plants, updating building automation, providing maintenance services for these systems plus installing water-saving fixtures in those facilities.  And meanwhile, the move is expected to save over $16 million during the 13 years.

Deepwater Wind signs

20-year supply deal:  Deepwater Wind and National Grid reached a 20-year, power-purchase agreement.  The agreement marks only the nation's second such power purchase deal for offshore wind -- with the first being between the same utility and the Cape Wind project under development in Massachusetts.  National Grid will buy the energy from Deepwater Wind's Block Island Wind Farm at 24.4¢/kwh in the first full year of operation, 2013, escalating at 3.5%/year.  This would translate into a boost on the typical 500 kwh residential customer's monthly bill from National Grid of about $1.35/month in 2013.
